Nathalie was raised in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England as the child of a man who was of Saint Lucian and English descent and her mother who is of Dominican heritage. Nathalie affirms that her mother was the first person to incite her to pursue a career acting. When she was 10, she played Young Nala for her first West End production of The Lion King. Her TV debut came in 2006 as Sasha Valentine, a teen actor on Hollyoaks (1996). Emmanuel made an appearance on the show through 2010, and her characters' storylines featured prostitution and heroin addiction. Nathalie hosted BBC Three's Web-sex: What's the risk?, investigating the online sexual behavior of the 16-24-year-olds across the UK. The fall of same year, she made her debut in the saga Twenty8. In 2011, she was Missandei in HBO's fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones. In Game of Thrones, Emmanuel's character Thrones was elevated to regular in 2015. This year, she played Computer hacker Ramsey in the action movie Furious 7 (2015) and Harriet in the sequel to sci-fi Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015). FHM magazine has ranked Emmanuel at 99th place in its 100 Sexiest Females of 2013 list. In 2015, she was featured in the April issues of InStyle as well as GQ magazines.
